Just off the beaten path, towards the under belly of the downtown. There is always alot to inspire. Great old signs, urban artwork, cool junkyards, and almost no one on the streets (at least in the daylight). This area is slowly being torn down, to be rebuilt into the "modern downtown". These are some cool areas that I found while wandering the streets of Phoenix.
The Log Cabin Motel is my fav to take pics of. the old guy chased me out of there once with a cane and a big dog. Take a drive to Mesa to see lots of cool old signs as well.
