R.I.P. Tom Sims...

Such a huge part of most of our lives, pioneer and shaper. Gone way too young!

Let the pendulum swing back...

More and more people are wanting me to hand letter their company vehicles. It's like a throwback to the 80's and early 90's when a handful of guys still only wanted paint. This truck was a complete, pinstripe, letter and drop shadow (the doors are done in vinyl, as the truck might be sold soon). Fun day of lettering, keep em' coming...

Kewpie by Lucky B...

I was asked to come up with a diaper bag hanging rack, with a Kewpie Doll motif, for a baby shower gift. A little out of the ordinary, for the shop, but it was fun...

Saints Revolution II Dragster...

Pete from the Saints C.C. sent me a picture of the dragster that I gold leafed and striped, all assembled. It ran 8:90 at 150 mph at Sears Point last weekend, so not only does it look fast sitting still... By the way, the Walsh/Walsh/Cusack #333 roadster in the background, is the first car that I was allowed to letter as a young apprentice, sometime around 1989. Cool

Plate...

Re-painted and patinaed to match the bikes age. this plate came to me with half of the paint missing (like stripper had been applied), but it is original to the bike. So, I guess I got carried away making it look like it would have...

JFA - Skateboard/We Know You Suck

Vermont farmer used a large tractor like a monster truck, destroying seven police cruisers.

Sheriff officers walk past crushed cruisers at the Orleans County Sheriff's Department in Newport, Vt., on Aug. 2. Authorities say 34-year old Vermont farmer Roger Pion, angry over a recent arrest last month on charges of resisting arrest and marijuana possession, used a large tractor like a monster truck, destroying seven police cruisers.
Not sure if it's wrong of me to think this is funny...

Shop Suburban coming right along...

Understanding hand lettering, and the process of application, is the key to believable faux patina lettering. Unlike most of the "patina" lettering out there, that can be spotted from a mile away. Be the letter, think like the letter, age like the letter. Old lettering never looks like the sprayed on through a stencil, and hit with a buffing pad examples that dot the modern magazines and car shows. Stroke is the key...
