Therapy...

You have got to love California, it has been cold here (still, much warmer than the rest of the country), but yesterday the skies cleared, and it reached 70 or so. I was able to break away from work, to ride to the hardware store mid day. But last night I took a long brisk ride, it was so great to be out. The roads were clear, as was the air, followed quickly by my mind. Therapy that money can't buy...

"Paso" archives...

I found a large stash of old Paso pictures in a box in the garage, here are but a few. I will post some more down the road...

Thinking back now about Paso, they all were good, but these were the really good days. Early to mid 90's, Paso was on Memorial Day, Los Banos was on Labor Day. The cops were cool, and glad that you were there. It was a large group of extended friends. No problems, truly great times...

and more Paso...

The Black Dahlia (before it went to Austin) in front of The Rodeo bar (now Villa Creek), The Hot Rod Trio in front of A&W Drive-In (now torn down). Road Zombies in front of A&W, all circa 94' 95'... Man, A&W was so much fun!!!

Grapevine...

There was a crazy sky earlier tonight in Gorman, Ca. This was the best that I could do with the zoom on my phone. I was much better in person...

Twain censored...

Awesome, now we can all sleep better! New versions of "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" & "The adventures of Tom Sawyer" have been published replacing the word "Nigger" (used 223 times) with the word "Slave". Also changed are the words "Injun" (changed to Indian) and "Half Breed" (changed to Half Blood). The idea behind the changes are to get the books back into the classroom, as many teachers refuse to allow the books in class, because they believe the books to be racist. I'm not sure how we teach our kid's about the past, if we re-write it. Everything is so "correct" these days, but that doesn't mean it was back then. History was ugly, and the fact that these words are ugly today, only shows how far we have come. Let the books remain intact, and let the youth come to their own conclusion. Protecting our youth with blinders, only makes them into dummies.

Solid

Cool custom VW from Japan, nice use of parts from many years, big and little red line tires. Nice... From the Solid Customs site

OMG...

You just never know... I have a friend that I have known now for about six years. He has a couple of 2000 something Harley's that he rides. His style of bikes and mine are very different, and he is not into "old" anything. Today I stopped by his shop, and at one point I mentioned, that I would like to get another Generator Shovelhead. We talked a bit about some old bikes that we know about, and then my friend said, "have you seen my old bike"? Old bike? What old bike I asked. He took me to the back of his shop, and went into a dark storage room. With a flashlight in hand, he pulled a tarp off of a 1915 Harley. Did I mention that I have known this guy for years? Apparently his Grandfather horse traded for this bike way back, and until five years ago, it had lived in the family's barn. My buddy likes the bike because it was his Grandfathers, and for that reason, it will never be for sale. I asked him if he rides it, and he said that although it runs well, he never takes it out of the storage room. I am blown away by this bike, and by never knowing that my friend had it. It just goes to show, you just never know.

Hard hat...

Here's a hard hat that I was asked to letter a name on today. It was a nothing job, but the hard hat itself is pretty crazy. It's made out of aluminum, and had to have been cast, like with a lost wax technique. Impressive to say the least...

Fonzie socks...

My buddy and everyone else's, Javier Mejia has the best story about these Fonzie stockings. I can't do it justice. Ask him about it sometime, I guarantee you will laugh your ass off...

Breaker! Breaker!

I love a good 70's trucker movie, and a bad one is even better. Caught this one tonight. Chuck Norris drives a bitchin' van, and takes no prisoners...
