The light at the end of the tunnel....

One step closer, I finished up this portion of the murals last night. This morning I will go put them up. I am so glad that these are done!

Goodie...

Went to a wedding today at a rural ranchette. I spied this super early Hawthorn bicycle sitting on the back corner of the neighbouring property. I went to the door, and I think, totally freaked out the lady that answered. She told me that the bike had been her fathers, and was not for sale. Bummer....

Dreams of Youth...

These ads had my full attention as a kid. I would just sit and dream. Looking at these ads now, it's hard to believe that these bike's were cutting edge.

Process, Progress?

Had to creatively extend my deadline out a couple of days. Here are some mid-process shot's, these Guinness murals are perhaps the most complex ones that Guinness has, and take for ever to create. They are like a fine art painting, and require a ton of blending (not the easiest thing to do with One Shot paint). Not to mention they are 5 feet tall...

Round and Round...

Two full days of solid painting, without a break, getting close... My head is spinning... Time to sleep, back to it in the morning.

Hollywood Cowgirls...

Here's a couple of pic's to hold us over for today. I am backed into a corner, and have to paint my way out. Friday is my deadline to have 4 murals (paintings) finished and delivered. Wow, that's the day after tomorrow.... guess I had better get to painting. Past STRESS time!

Surfing / Car Culture...

Who say's Basset Hounds are slow?

Today my girl Basset, went missing for a bit. When she finally came back, she was covered in weeds and had caught a fresh cotton-tail. You have got to be fast and smart to catch a rabbit....

Kool Hand Luke...

Got a happy Easter message from my ole' friend Luke yesterday. Since the Paso car show was canceled, I don't see Luke as often as I used to. About a year or so ago, Luke picked up a Caddy in Pismo Beach, and yesterday he told me he had it finished, and to look it up on his myspace pics. Well I did and what can I say, this boy has been busy! In addition to fine art and auto/ bike painting, Luke has also become quite the tattoo artist, with a very nice portfolio. Great to see, click on the heading above to see all of Luke's work...

Ken and I...

Here's a pic that I found today of my buddy Ken and I quite a few years ago (like 10). The photo was taken at this little ranch house that we rented in Northern California. The 64' Cad was Ken's, and the 60' Buick Invicta was mine.
Happy Easter...

This is how I feel tonight, it's about that time...

Smithing tools...

Part of Clay's dad's tool collection...

A good Saturday also...

This morning I went out to my friend Clay's dad's house way out in the sticks, to look at a 1940 Ford truck, that I knew he had, with my other friend Mike who was looking for a 40'. What can I say, the truck is in very good shape, with very minor rust, and almost no bondo. The motor is a 1958 371 Oldsmobile J2 with two 97's and one 94' (the rat's nest in the manifold, was super gnarly, and Clay bare-handed it out). The tranny is Zephyr with a banjo rear end. Very nice indeed! Add to that many boxes full of just about every part the truck was missing. A great morning, a great price, and a great project...

Good time, Good Friday...

Mike's 34' Chevrolet...

Mike's 34' Chevy quickly being built, and should be ready and at Santa Maria Crusin' Nationals. The car will run a freshly rebuilt 409 w/ a 4-speed. Not sure if any traction will be grabbed with those tires (he has some Hurst slicks sitting in his living room, as back-up).

Questionable???

Interesting approach to the classic continental kit, not sure aesthetically how this works, but I'm sure that the owner feels it's practical. 101 freeway yesterday...

Deadlines....

Well I am up to my eyeballs in work, it is great, but I have some super crazy deadlines to meet. It's rad, every night this week I have woke up at around 4am, and then just lay there thinking about work. And then I find myself sleeping when I shouldn't be, like at stop lights. The Kilt is moving along, the pub is set to open May 1st and there are a ton of murals to finish. Oh well, it's crazy how fast I can paint when I'm forced to. Today I finished the Guinness mural, and yesterday I hung the main sign...
