These signs are posted all the way through the Central Valley. Apparently there is a endangered minnow in the California Aqueduct that prompted the "free-thinkers" to get congress to shut off the pump that feeds water to these third generation farms. Unemployment is as high as 50 percent in some Central California farming communities. Perfect timing, with the economy in the toilet, more hard-ship for farmers and higher prices for imported fruits and vegetables in the stores.

Thanksgiving road trip... long drive!!

Drove up to my parent's ranch in Yreka Ca. for Thanksgiving. Had a great time seeing family, eating, skeet shooting and exploring the area. But

man what a drive! 520 miles each way from Paso Robles.

Yreka is a very neat old town with alot of history. Most notably, it served as the capital for the State of Jefferson, during the push to separate from California to become the 48th state (Hawaii and Alaska were not yet states) click on the title above for the link to the history of Jefferson. To this day the people are very independent, and don't trust the Government much.

As with any old town there are alot of cool old signs, here are just a few that I shot photos of...

46' Ford Kustom orbs....

Spooky picture of The Boy's new 1946 Ford kustom. He found this way out in the central valley somewhere. The car was built in the 50's reportedly by the Ayala Brothers in LA. The owner never had it finished, and moved up to the valley, where the car sat inside untill now. Great score, the windows are all cut and the trim is all cut, ready for paint and a motor (flathead, which The Boy already has). Very strong car.

1960 El Camino trade....

Danny Angel is looking to trade his super cherry 1960 El Camino for a Indian Scout or Harley 45 bobber/flat tracker/stocker. The car has 235 w/ 3 speed OD. Very clean and original inside and out. Everything works, turn key. Lowered with spokes. Runs great, looks great. You would be hard pressed to find one nicer. Found this little beauty on a ranch down the road. Very straight, and runs well (302) the guy wants $700. Could be the new Lucky B Design work truck. There is alot of room for logo lettering and panels. Humm....

Swedish Volvo's.....

When I was in Sweden a few years back, I saw alot of super cool European cars. From factory built Rally VW's to a vintage Volvo hearse. But the Volvo's in these pics are way over the top. I have seen the top pic all over the place, but I poached these two pics from the Belladonna Blog. It is very nice to see traditional kustom applications on not so traditional cars. At least from an American view-point.

1932 "Junior Brechbuhler" Jalopy.....

Here is the finished car, the Junior Brechbuhler Jalopy. Built in 1960, sold to and raced by Chuck Guevara until the end of 1963. This is the oldest of three known survivors, out of the hundreds that raced in the CJA (California Jalopy Association) in Southern California from about 1950-1964. Restored by the Woodland family, and lettered by Lucky B Design. On display at the Estrella Warbirds Museum-Race car wing.

SLO Bike Happening.....

Went out last night to the SLO Bike Happening, I had been invited by a friend after he saw my 1937 Hawthorn Zep in my shop. Being my first time, I had no idea what to expect. We rode down to the San luis Obispo Mission at 9 PM, by 9:15 the number of bicycles had grown to way over 500. It was very cool. We took off with the group, riding down the street. At the second corner, we waited for the light, the entire city block was full of bikes. The light turned green and everyone started to move. As we went through the intersection, the light turned yellow. There was a group of Cops that entered the street with flashlights, pulling certain people out of the ride. They came at me, but I went around. They did however nab my buddy. He received a reportedly $390 moving violation ticket. We were told that this is not a city sanctioned event, and that it was quite dangerous, and that there have been many problems in the past. Just after I took this crappy picture with my I phone the cop turned to me and said that he should also write me, as I had also ran the light (did I mention that the light was yellow)? Yet another good time wrecked by dick cops. Well times are tough, I guess the city's also need the revenue.... After handing my buddy the ticket, the one cop said, "wow those are really cool bikes".... yeh glad you like them!

Ol' timey Cowboy style .....

Just finished these two old west style restaurant signs. Man, I had a good time on these (even though the lettering and drop shadow seemed to take forever). It's always good to be given the reins and let loose. As for the "Beef Palace", the best old school heart attack on a plate, side of gravy, cowboy breakfast joint ever.
